Chicago... Amazing

Chicago skyline from Navy Pier.

Macy's iconic Christmas Tree
Winter Wonderland at Navy Pier
Water Tower Christmas Tree
Wacker Bridge on Lower or Upper or is it  Upper Lower Wacker Drive.
Isn't that the cutiest Snowman cupcake? Notice there is only one left. Name of bakery was Crumbs. Humm, I think that is all that would be left of this tasty looking morsel.

Shopping

Some fine boys in blue. Just before I jaywalked. Luckily, for me, no ticket was issued.

Amazing architecture.
I think this says it all. Sigh.
Thank you Chicago for a lovey visit. You were the most gracious hostess,  here's to the next time.

Ugly Christmas Sweater Run

Start line.

Wendy and myself before run/walk.
After walk.. no sweater.

HO HO HO
I say that is one UGLY Christmas Sweater

There was snow. Snowball fight anyone?

Contest for the best Ugly Christmas sweater.
Cocoa no line. See those people in the background? That is the beer line...

What a great way to start the Christmas season. Early that day was the local Christmas parade. There was lots of laughter and fun for all. Will do this again next year. I sure hope it is a lot cooler. But if not will wear my Ugly Christmas t-shirt.

Walk Down Memory Lane... at least for Dad and I

Took the kids on a trip down Memory Lane. My memory that is. We packed up Popie and headed out to the "Property". Several acres of land that Dad and Mom owed while she was alive. The kids were not interested in the "Property" while has altered to much I wasn't sure we were there. About 1/4 mile down the road is an old school house that is on the historical registry. There the kids found a working water pump. "You mean the water comes from the ground"? Up your Dad and Uncle Stephen used to haul water to the "Property" for Dad.
Checking out all the nooks, cranny's they found some cool old stuff (not), like roofing tile.
Like all schools there is always a swing. Now matter what era all kids know what to do the it.
Then the little building is discovered. "What is that"? That I said is an outhouse. "What is a outhouse"? Well, its where you go to the bathroom. "REALLY"? they all said at the same time.
"There is a hole in the bench. How do you flush it"? Well, you don't flush it just get mixed in with the dirt. "That's gross"!

Yup, you guessed. Keaton had to try it out. "Hey Nana, it works just like you said it would".
Keeps the cattle and horses in but not the kids.

Dogs Do Cry

Brooklyn acquired a beautiful chocolate colored Cocker Spaniel from the Humane Shelter. The bonding is complete. Sunday after an afternoon at Chris and Robin's I offered to bring Mandy home so Brooke could stay longer at her Mom's. Mandy cried on and off until Brooke got home. Broke my heart. Reminded me of the grand kids standing at the door and crying after Mom and Dad left.

Fall Celebration

Meet our special guest Mr Pinata. He is full of candy. Yum. For those of you not familiar with the concept of pinata you whack the holy ---- out of it. The little ones get a turn. To make the experience more exciting and challenging the kids are blindfolded and Mr Pinata moves up and down. So much fun to watch.

I know my lighting is off. Sara is taking her turn at bat.

                                                           Keaton and Brad strategizing.
Poor Max the blindfold kept getting in his mouth.
I think Keaton is having a special moment with Mr Pinata.
Brooke and Aaron
Beth and Eli
Then it was bobbing for apples.

The evening ended with these yummy caramel apples that Robin made. Thanks Robin for making this such a special day.

                 HAPPY FALL EVERYONE
